Launch of TVET Work Stream - LIFE ORIENTATION, MINING / ENGINEERING AND AGRICULTURE
HEAIDS recorded a milestone event on 25-26th May 2016, when it brought together the 50 Deputy Principals-Academic from the TVET colleges across the country. At the workshop jointly hosted with the DHET – Curriculum Development and Support Unit, Ms Pillay (HEAIDS programme manager), Ms Singh (DHET Director – Curriculum Unit) and their respective teams shared the findings of the HEAIDS TVET Baseline Study titled “Towards understanding HIV and AIDS teaching and learning at TVET Colleges” and introduced the three work streams focussing on Life Orientation, mining/engineering and agriculture that will be the core disciplines will be implemented at TVET colleges as part of the HEAIDS DHET NSF HIV Curriculum and Academic capacity Development Programme. Various significant stakeholders including Umalusi and the ILO participated in the event and added their leadership vice and support for the interventions.
The Deputy Principals recorded their collective appreciation to the work streams and welcomed the support in strengthening their teaching and learning and especially that the interventions enabled them to make their curriculum responsive to the needs of their communities. Watch this space!!!!
